What a productive couple of weeks!
Recently, we added a new activity to our morning meeting. As a class, we have begun to "sign in" each morning using our Smart Board. Each student is responsible for finding their names and dragging their photo under "here."
We have also added some new activities during our afternoon center time and our sensory bins have been a class favourite right before home time:

Some other additional centers we have added include our Reading Center where our students can choose either "Read to Self" or "read me a story" (reading with our staff). Some Picture Communication Symbols (PCS) we have been using to support this center are included below:
As always, the use of appropriate and functional communication is something we continue to support and promote in our classrooms each and every day. With some time designated to play and leisure skills built in to our daily schedules, this also doubles as a great way to continue to encourage communication. With the long term benefits in mind, we hope to begin to encourage communication not only between adults and students, but as well between students (peer communication). This is an example of a universal Core Board we are using in our rooms during play activities such as Lego, K'Nex, and pretend play:
Photos with SANTA!
On November 18th, Kenneth D. Taylor’s Christmas Market, CSSI students and their families are able to have their photos taken with Santa before the general public arrive. This session with Santa will be from 9:30 am to 10 am.
